Carrying the Seed of Potential
The Knight of Pentacles is a card about potential, and (to a certain extent) about intention. In the RWS deck, he is the only Knight depicted at a standstill. I tend to think of this Knight as the personification of slow moving energy with an inevitable effect.
There is something thoughtful and deliberate about this Knight. He seems to be gazing at the pentacle, but also as the vista beyond it. Where will he take it? Where will he plant? When?
This card is also a representation of sensuality and sexual potency. In many yogic, mystical and religious traditions, the role of celibacy or abstinence in spiritual development is emphasized. Perhaps this card poses questions about where we choose to direct our vital creative energies.
