Through the Fire
The Princess of Wands is the card of raw enthusiasm and passion. Crowley describes her thus.
Brilliance, courage, beauty, force, sudden in anger or love, desire of power, enthusiasm, revenge. If ill dignified, she is superficial, theatrical, cruel, unstable, domineering.
As I meditated on this card, I imagined, by turns, a young and somewhat distracted Priestess, flitting to and fro, tending her ceremonial fire – and a pyromaniac.
The card also reminded me of these lyrics from the great Cynthia Weil.
Through the fire
To the limit, to the wall
For a chance to be with you
I’d gladly risk it all
Through the fire
Through whatever, come what may
For a chance at loving you
I’d take it all the way
Right down to the wire
Even through the fire
Let us bring the enthusiasm to our endeavors. May we find our passions, and express them fully. May we tend the fires well.
