Follow the Light Within
The depiction of the Hermit in the Thoth deck is another dramatic departure. The card is filled with symbolic imagery, with an Orphic Egg, a homunculus, the Cerberus, and the entire Sun in a lantern. The Hermit himself has the Ibis head of Thoth/Hermes.
It is the Astrological Thump card of Virgo, and represents the Hebrew letter Yod – י – the first letter of the Tetragrammaton.
Once again, I LOVE Lady Harris’ use of projective geometry in this card. The image seems to want to leap off of the cardstock.
For me, at this time, the card represents the creative and sustaining light – the light that lives within each of us.
Follow the light, we must.
