There is something about individualism, and perhaps even loneliness about the Nine of Coins.
I’ve always thought of the RWS Nine of Pentacle cards as “poor little rich girl.” It depicts an elegant lady, in the midst of a beautiful estate garden, holding a falcon. She is accomplished, prosperous and all alone.
Here’s what Ben-Dov has to say about the Nine of Coins.
Motivation. Carving a niche for oneself in an existing system. Ambition. Going against the current and enduring difficulties will prove beneficial in the long term.
Pitisci has nines as attainment, and since Coins is the suit of the material realm, we can see this card as the attainment of wealth, status and worldly achievements.
I think of this card as being about individual accomplishment, luxury, perhaps even opulence.
Like so many of the cards in the deck, context is important. This card can be, simply, auspicious. Or it can tell us that “it’s lonely at the top.”
Be good, and you will be lonesome. Be lonesome and you will be free.
