Be the Light You Wish to Follow
The Hermit is usually thought of as the card of introspection and solitude. As I look at him today, though, it is the light he carries that draws my attention. He follows the Hanged Man from yesterday, whose head was surrounded with light.
This card turned up two weeks ago as well, and I took it as a prompt to look toward, and follow, the light within. This is certainly of paramount importance, especially with all of the darkness swirling around us.
But I think it is also critically important that we share the light that we have with each other. We do this by serving each other, by placing each other’s needs higher than our own, by feeding the hungry, and by telling the truth.
This seems a simple enough credo.
