Don’t Surround Yourself With Yourself
This card depicts a character surrounded and practically hemmed in by the eight swords. The Waite-Smith version seems to indicate an initiation or trial of some sort, with the character wearing a blindfold.
I have written before about it being a representation of the perceptive trap.
Jon Anderson’s lyric “don’t surround yourself with yourself” came to mind today when the card turned up. If we truly want to see, we must learn to break free of the same old tired neural pathways, and regroove our minds, tuning in to the essential vibration of the cosmos.
If that sounds a little weird, it probably is. True story, though.
